Mindy Black

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Intern

“Mindy offers a compassionate, hope-filled space for adolescents and adults to understand what may be keeping them stuck and take meaningful steps toward healing and growth.”

Before pursuing her counseling degree, Mindy spent more than six years in the anti-trafficking field, including residential work alongside individuals healing from exploitation and abuse. Through this experience, she developed a deep understanding of the impact of trauma and the importance of providing both compassionate support and thoughtful guidance as people move toward healing.

As a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Intern, Mindy works with children, teens, and adults navigating trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. She helps clients identify what feels heaviest, understand patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and develop practical steps toward meaningful change.

Mindy approaches counseling from a distinctly Christian perspective while warmly welcoming clients of all faith backgrounds. Her Christian worldview shapes how she understands wellness, identity, relationships, and the inherent value of each person. For clients who desire it, faith and biblical truth can be incorporated into the counseling process. She draws from evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT skills, and play-based work with younger children. Rather than believing every difficult thought or emotion needs to be eliminated, Mindy helps clients better understand what they are experiencing, respond to it in healthier ways, and move toward the life, relationships, and values that matter most to them.

Outside the counseling room, Mindy is a wife, mom to teenage boys, and veteran. She enjoys hiking, traveling, and discovering great local coffee spots wherever she goes.
