The Step That Changes Everything: The Trailhead of Eternity
I am so excited that you are joining our team on this adventure through God's heart and His creation. It all begins with that first step. To experience all that He has created, you must take the first and most important step. It may seem small, yet it is a giant leap, the most significant one you will ever take.
When we decided to hike the magnificent 24-mile rim-to-rim Grand Canyon, we learned that everyone is invited, but few enter. The first step required acknowledging the need for a ticket to enter and then requesting that permit. We quickly discovered that having a ticket granted access to the destination, but it did not guarantee an easy journey.
The difficulty of reaching that destination without a guide, someone who had gone before us, quickly became apparent. Anyone attempting to survive in such an extreme environment needed an expert. We needed someone who knew the trail, understood the obstacles at every turn, and could prepare us for what lay ahead. Our team required someone to help us avoid the consequences of our inadequacies and pride, someone to protect us from accidents, injuries, or worse, and to lead us safely to the other side. We needed guidance not only to arrive, but to enjoy the journey along the way.
Many people think heaven is the ultimate destination for a Christian. While that is true, heaven is not really about a place, it is about a person. When families travel home for the holidays, the joy is not in arriving at an address, but in being with the ones they love. Heaven is being in the presence of our Abba Father, Jesus Christ our Savior, and the Holy Spirit our guide. It is the eternal destination where this beautiful reunion takes place.
The Lord of heaven and earth desires to walk with you, talk with you, comfort you, and be with you every step of the journey, now and into eternity. He invites you into the most intimate relationship possible through salvation. Everyone is invited into eternal life, yet many choose not to accept this free gift of salvation, this pass to enter eternity.
Heaven is a perfect, sinless place where our loving, gracious, and holy God dwells. Sin, any violation of God's law, cannot exist there, and justice requires that sin be paid for. That penalty is death. But God, in His perfection, provided a perfect solution that balances the ledger. Jesus, who is sinless, took the punishment for your sin and mine so that we could be made clean and enter into God's presence, into heaven. Only Jesus is sinless and EVERYONE else sins. To accept this free gift, the access pass to eternity, you must first acknowledge your sin and your need for a Savior. That is the first step, and though it may seem small, it is truly a giant leap of faith. The second step is to believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again.
No amount of preparation, good behavior, or effort can earn our way into God's presence. We cannot achieve perfection on our own. Eternity is not something we can reach through human effort. Jesus created that eternal home and made the only path to it.
When you accept Him, your access is secured, not just for someday in heaven, but for today. This access pass is more than a future promise; it is an invitation for Jesus to walk with you now, to be your guide, your friend, your strength, and your peace.
God has given us His Word as our guidebook and the Holy Spirit as our constant companion. He has gone before us as our Guide, knowing every obstacle and every struggle. When we fall, He lifts us up. When we grow weary, He gives us rest. When we are too exhausted to take another step, He carries us.
We invite you to join us on this journey. Walk through this devotional and experience God's goodness, grace, and faithfulness. Share in our struggles and victories, but most importantly, grow in your relationship with Jesus.
But remember: to reach the final destination, you must have your own ticket. You cannot enter on someone else's faith. I pray you will take that first step and receive your own.

What do you need to do to be saved and obtain your access pass to God and eternal life? Believe that you are a sinner. Believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Ask Him to forgive you and save you. Believe that Jesus, your Savior, took that punishment. Trust Him as your Savior, and begin your journey with Him.
Contemplation
What is holding you back from taking that first step? Is it uncertainty, fear, pride, or the belief that you must somehow earn your way? The trail of faith does not begin with perfection, it begins with surrender. Just as no one hikes a mountain without first stepping onto the trail, no one begins a relationship with God without acknowledging their need for Him. Consider this: you are already invited. The path has already been made. The price has already been paid. The Guide is already waiting. The only question left is, will you take the step?
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for inviting me into a relationship with You. Thank You for making a way when I could not make one myself. I confess that I am a sinner and that I cannot earn my way into Your presence. Today, I choose to take that first step. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again so that I could have eternal life. I ask You to forgive me, to save me, and to guide me on this journey. Walk with me, Lord. Teach me, strengthen me, and lead me step by step. When I fall, lift me up. When I am weary, carry me. Help me to trust You not only for eternity, but for every step I take today. Thank You for loving me, for choosing me, and for preparing a place for me.
